Hello! Just wanted to send a quick midweek note wearing my other hat where I am the wine buyer for Edmund’s Oast restaurant in downtown Charleston, SC. Many of you actually know me from Edmund’s Oast, but if not…this is a terrific restaurant at 1081 Morrison Drive. I was the wine director here before COVID, but like many things our wine program came to a screeching halt during that time, and I turned my attention to our retail shop/bar, The Exchange (RIP). Now I am back at the restaurant (mostly behind the scenes) and rebuilding the wine program. I’ve been slowly amassing some lovely wines and training our awesome staff, and next week we are ready to reveal the first draft of the wine list and have some fun!
So if you live in the area please consider stopping by on Wednesday, November 15, from 5 to 10 p.m. as I will be on the floor and pouring some extra special wines by-the-glass (things that are on our new bottle list but we will serve BTG for one night only!). Check out the pic above for a few of the yummy wines I will be featuring!
Vadin Plateau Champagne $22 glass/$120 bottle
Grower Champagne – 100% Meunier
Guiberteau Saumur Blanc $18 glass/$83 bottle
Unicorn Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley – only opening a few of this one!
Fratelli Alessandria Langhe Nebbiolo $16 glass/$66 bottle
Fresh, lovely Nebbiolo from Piedmont, Italy
Like all wine things for me, we are focusing on small, family producers who are conscientious in their vineyard and cellar work!
We are taking reservations for all party sizes on November 15 for the Wine Bar Night so feel free to give the restaurant a call 843-727-1145 – cheers!
If you can’t make it Wednesday, I will also be on the floor on Monday, November 20, from 5 to 10 p.m. for our first ½ PRICED BOTTLES MONDAY!! Yep, you read that right we will be offering a 50% discount on all bottles of wine every Monday (starting November 20)! This was a pre-pandemic tradition that we have been missing. We will run this deal every Monday, all day, both inside and outside :)
One last thing, while I have you…many you also know how much I LOVE giving back, and at Edmund’s Oast we are at the tail end of our supply drive (laundry detergent and school uniforms) for an amazing local non-profit – Charleston Promise Neighborhood. This is a non-profit committed to expanding access to resources and improving academic outcomes at four Title 1 schools in Charleston’s 'Neck' region (basically our neighborhood). With a donation you will receive a house beer on us!
Feel free to drop off supplies at the restaurant but you can also mail directly to us if you are shopping online: Edmund’s Oast attention: Supply Drive, 1081 Morrison Drive, Charleston, SC 29403.
We are accepting all types of laundry detergent. Regarding uniforms: they are asking for sizes 4 toddler up to size 18 in the following colors:
red, white, light blue, navy blue, or yellow plain collared shirts
navy blue or khaki pants/shorts for boys
navy blue or khaki pants/skirts/jumpers for girls
Thank you per usual for all the support! Hope to see you at Edmund’s Oast if you live in Charleston!
P.S. Be sure to tune back into the newsletter this Monday when give my Holiday Wine Pairing Tips!
