Happy Labor Day weekend! I hope everyone is able to enjoy one last long, summery weekend filled with delicious things to eat and drink!! And to kick it off I have some exciting news…
Join me this fall as I take my popular Somm School (aka wine classes) to Wine & Company (a bottle shop and wine bar) at 441 Meeting Street, corner of Meeting and Spring, in downtown Charleston, SC.
If you are just joining me, here’s a quick professional intro…I have been in the restaurant business for over 20 years, and I have achieved my certified sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers and level 3 certification through the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET). I have taught wine classes for the past six years at the wine shop/bar I managed (RIP: The Exchange). And teaching was one part of the Exchange I just could not give up as I truly love teaching! My wine classes are perfect for those who are contemplating taking an entry-level wine certification or for anyone simply looking to enhance their wine aptitude. Honestly, learning more about wine is simply a great way to enhance your travel agenda! (You will suddenly have a long list of regions you want to visit!)
I am doing a slow roll-out of classes this fall with a tour of some of my favorite French regions (see full schedule below or by clicking here), and then Winter 2024 will bring even more classes! The first class – an intro to Burgundy, France – is 2 weeks from today on Saturday, September 16. Click here for tickets if you are already super pumped or keep reading for all the details.
The classes will be offered from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The cost is $50 per class for the Tour of France classes, but hospitality industry employees receive a 50% discount. I do ask that the discount is limited to those actively working in restaurants, bars, hotels, wine sales, etc.
With each class you will taste four outstanding wines and receive a well developed information packet on the region (with maps)! Seating is limited and advanced purchase of tickets is required. Click on each class below for a link to tickets.
And of course please email me at sarah@grapetotable.com for further information and also for discount code.
Thank you for your support!! I look forward to exploring France with you this fall!
P.S. If you have not been to Wine & Company it’s a terrific wine shop/bar owned by my good friend Josh Walker. It’s a very comfortable setting for classes (and for hanging out!), and there’s a parking lot adjacent to the building that offers hourly rates via the Reef parking app (it’s easiest to download the app and set up your account in advance). There is also some free parking in the garage beneath the building.
