Hello readers! It’s my week off from my real deal newsletter, but I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about an awesome event I am involved with if you live in the Charleston, SC area. See,next Saturday, April 26, is the biennial fundraiser for the local chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier (an international organization of female hospitality professionals). It’s a philanthropic organization that raises funds for a scholarship program (also for female hospitality professionals) and also for other philanthropic efforts. Each year we award upwards of $5,000 in scholarships to deserving candidates. We also donate $5,000 annually to a local charity partner, currently Southern Smoke, which benefits food and beverage workers in crises.
I’ve been a part of the organization for many years and through many different fundraising events, but the one we have landed on recently, a Culinary Bazaar, has been our most successful AND fun! We have all worked hard to find all sorts of goodies for home cooks and entertainers. Think gently used, vintage and new culinary delights including name brand serving pieces, counter-top appliances, crystal, china, knives, barware, cookbooks, kitchen gadgets, curated gift baskets and more! (I have donated several mint condition cookbooks, wine, and wine glasses to give you an idea!)
The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Highwire Distilling’s Barrel Room. Early shopping is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and costs $10, but admission is free from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will also have a culinary raffle that’s just $5 per ticket or $5 for $20, and I am donating a wine class package to the raffle that gives you 2 tickets to one of my summer or fall classes (ones that are not already sold out) and a $50 gift card to Wine & Company (wine bar/bottle shop where I host my classes).
So please join me in supporting a great cause and come on out next Saturday. I would love to see you!
P.S. Thanks for reading! For now, my newsletter is free and you can find all the content by clicking here – basically a little Grape to Table website created by the great folks at Substack. I did realize recently that you only see the various categories of past newsletters if you open this link in a browser (rather than the Substack app). It’s a shame because the categories make it easy to find content you might be interested in…so here are some more embedded links! Click here for Wine Tips. Click here for Recipes. Click here for Q & As. As always I really appreciate when you hit the like button as it helps get the content in front of more people :) and spread the joy of wine and food.
P.P.S. There are still a few tix left to most of my summer wine classes! Click here for my Tour of Italy ticketing!!
